The Hudson Warehouse presents the Trojan Women, a new adaptation by Writer & Director Nicholas Martin-Smith, based on the works of Euripides. With the city of Troy decimated by 10 years of war, the women of Troy are corralled into a refugee camp and await their fate at the hands of a bureaucratic system. In this stark world, the women continue to grasp onto a life that no longer exists. Theirs is a state of constant searching for comfort in a desolate world of suffering. All their men, husbands and sons, have been murdered, except one: Aeneas, the future founder of Rome. In this contemporary adaptation, Martin-Smith creates a piece of work that echoes the choral odes of the original Greek tragedies. Spearheaded by Talthybius, the voice of the Greek occupation, the fate of the women are decided at the hands of soldiers, still hungry for war.
