Gymboree Play & Music in the Park

Classic Playground (75th Street near the Hudson River)

Back by popular demand, Riverside Park Fund and Gymboree offer free summer classes at Classic Playground, overlooking the scenic Hudson River. Classes are designed for children under age five, and each week’s activities will rotate to include songs, games, arts and crafts, imaginative play and preschool fitness.

Activities are developmentally appropriate for three age groups: 6-16 months, 16-28 months and 28-months to four years. Parents and/or caregivers must accompany each child during the class.

Families are encouraged to call 212.724.2140 or 877.GYM.LEARN (toll-free) to reserve a spot.

Art in the Park

Hippo Playground (91st Street)

The Hippo Playground Project is once again sponsoring free arts & crafts activities for kids every weekday morning during the summer. The Science Barge

The Science Barge is a sustainable urban farm designed by New York Sun Works, an environmental nonprofit organization. The Science Barge tours New York City’s public waterfront parks, offering sustainability education programs to wide audiences. The Science Barge plays host to school groups from all 5 boroughs of New York City during the week, and is open to the general public weekday afternoons and on weekends. Saturday & Sunday tours are scheduled at: 12:00 pm; 1:00 pm; 3:00 pm & 4:00 pm. Tours are first-come, first-served.

Jazzmobile

Grant's Tomb (122nd Street & Riverside Drive)

Since 1964, Jazzmobile has been presenting Free Outdoor Summer Mobile Concerts. As the pioneer mobile music organization, Jazzmobile has brought the great Jazz Artists of our time directly to the public throughout the five boroughs of New York City. This week’s performer: Wycliffe Gordon. In 2007 trombonist Wycliffe Gordon was presented with The ASCAP Foundation Vanguard Award for his innovative musical activity as a composer, instrumentalist, performer, and educator in the field of Jazz. This program is free of charge.

Pack a picnic, bring a friend and settle in for a night of premier Hollywood movies. This year’s theme: Election Year! Sponsored by Riverside South Properties.

This week’s movie: All the President’s Men, (1976) starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman. Based on the 1974 non-fiction book of the same name by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. The movie follows the two Washington Post journalists as they investigate the Watergate scandal that evenually leads to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.
